Plunge at the Hotel Gansevoort

The Hotel Gansevoort is a seen and be seen hotel in the Meat Packing District. It's no surprise their rooftop would be any different. Willie and I decided to pay a visit, just to chill after a long day of work.  To get to the roof top, you need to fight past the burly and anal retentive security drones to get to the elevator, then wait...and wait...and wait for an elevator to arrive.

Once you arrive at the penthouse, you’re again greeted by security checking ID’s.  These mofo’s never smile!

Anyway after exiting the elevator your the area is separated into three zones, the jacuzzi...er pool, the Solarium bar, and a larger lounge.  All have access to the wraparound balcony that faces west, north and east.  You cannot access the pool unless you’re a hotel guest, however the pool is the size of a postage stamp.  It’s that small.

Since I didn’t eat lunch, I needed something to eat while drinking.  It’s a beautiful day, Willie and I decide to sit outside.  Since there is no space under the covered portion we sit on the west-side balcony.  Great views of the Meat Packing District, Jersey and Chelsea.

We sit and it takes a while for our server to arrive, granted it’s not that busy. I order the Wagyu sliders with a Purple Haze and Willie orders the Tatak roll and Mango Lime Ricky.

The sliders are scrumptious.  Nice and moist and the bread super soft.  The Tataki roll, had some kick.  Both cocktails were good, but not worth $15??  No happy hour?

When we finish eating we just take in the view of the city, while waiting for our check.

Our server was nowhere to be found.  I suggested getting up and leaving, ‘cause I know that someone will magically appear with the check.  Sure enough that’s what happened.

Check this place out early, so you can enjoy the view and relax.  The later in the day it gets the more drug inducted trash, Bridge & Tunnel and China Town knock off designer label chic types show up.
