I love Rittenhouse square and have passed Devon Seafood before but didn’t give it a second thought. Today I was thinking of going to Parc, but it was completely packed.
There were a few people sitting out in front of Devon and, from the outside, it was pretty much empty. Normally that’s not good sign during Brunch hours but I thought I’d take a chance.
Upon entering I was greeted by 5 staff members. It’s obvious this place is dead. I contemplate leaving at that very minute. But good smells coming from the kitchen change my mind.
The restaurant is pretty casual and is divided into several sections and I’m offered a seat in the front or outside. I prefer Air Conditioning so it’s inside fro me.
I take in the decor of the restaurant, the bar is the central focal point and the dining room has nice dark wood and vaulted ceilings. Other than that it’s not particularly unique, but comfortable and the good spacing between tables.
My server was perky and bubbly with a splash of a sarcastic, just the way I like them! She gave a rundown of the restaurant and listed the food and drink specials. I get the feeling this place is a popular among the happy hour and brunch crowds.
I ordered a Blackberry Lemonade and a strawberry salad. The Blackberry Lemonade tasted like generic cough syrup.
The vinaigrette, the Parmesan cheese, berries combined for a delicious and light salad. If the salad was an entree I would not hesitate to order it. While I ate my salad my server brought me several drinks to sample, since I didn’t like the first. I settle on the Lemon Ice and it hit the spot. As a lightweight drinker, it snuck up on me. I think I was buzzed by the time my entree came out.

For my entree, I ordered a Country Omelet. It was light and fluffy and filled with bacon, cheddar, onions and mixture of cheese made for a light and fluffy omelet. Add in the side of bacon and I was good to go. I need to add the the griddle cake was amazing! It was so good, it should be sold as a side.
Devon Seafood is a nice restaurant and I would return for a dinner service.
The location, on Rittenhouse square, provides a great setting for a nice meal. Reasonably priced; prompt service and knowledgeable staff along with good ambiance make for a spot on my favorite places list. In addition the outside seating makes for good people watching.
