Went out to brunch with @datdamnatasha. Our original plan was to dine at a different restaurant, but it was closed for a private event. And there was some big money up in there. Why were we not invited to the festivities?! Humph!
Since Native is a comfortable place and we’ve been there a number of times, we decided to stop by. The atmosphere on any given day is very laid back and casual. When the weather is right you can dine outside.
The food has it’s hits and misses, but generally very good. Items like the mac-and-chese, and shrimp scampi are delovely. The bar is a constant good thing as they pour a pretty strong drink. I know several people that patronize native strictly for the bar. The one thing hat has been Natives Achilles Heel is the service. You never know what you’ll get.
Today the place is unusually empty. It’s usually packed on weekends. Anyway, that’s a good thing in my eyes, when this place is packed it’s like an oven and the service is horrible.
We sit down and debate what were going to order. Ms. Natasha orders the Eggs Norwegian, although she’s not sure how the salmon and spinach are going to play together. I order an omelette with cheddar cheese, spinach and mushrooms and a side of bacon. We both chose salads that are included with our meal. I ask to substitute the Mesclun for the Orange and Walnut and have it on the side.
The food arrives and everything looks delish Natasha’s salmon looked delish & smelled great. Everyone played well together on the plate!
My salad was a winner, It’s the size of a regular side salad, although the oranges were a little past rip, there was a perfect balance of nuts to cheese. My omelette was mushy in the middle and there was no cheese on top. Not a good thing. The bacon was satisfying.
There is one unsolved mystery. Natasha asks, “why is the bacon served in a bowl?” I’m still trying to figure that out! Yes a la carte items come separately, but in a bowl?
The price point for brunch is reasonable and appropriate for the area considering the portion size. My only qualm is charging $3.50 for a tiny ass glass of cranberry juice. It’s straight up highway robbery.
Anyway, check out Native and let me know your experience.
