Stopped into Sushi Samba for a quick meal before an event. Remember when this space was Fuddruckers?
I chose this location because I thought the crowd would be thin given the weather. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door and immediately seated. I was surprised that the restaurant was so lively. It's pretty bright and intense.
The space is divided into three sections with the Sushi bar in the middle. You have small lounge, a colorful bar and the dining area. Over the hour we were in the restaurant the bar area became more loud an boisterous.
Were seated and order two Sambatini's to kick the night off right. I'm a lightweight drinker so the strawberry Sambatini hit the spot. The cocktails are expensive, but REALLY good.
I ordered the Rick Shrimp tempura appetizer. It had a nice cornmeal crust and the dipping sauce had a nice kick. I'm don't normally like spicy food, but the shrimp and dipping sauce did a nice dance in my mouth.
For entrees, Willie ordered Sushi/Sashimi and I ordered a California roll with Asparagus. Both were fresh and had a nice presentation but didn't wow me or knock me out the park. They weren't bad but I've had better.
We didn't order any desert as we were pressed for time, but the overall atmosphere is a downtown place to be "seen". I'm going to check out another Sushi Samba so I can try the wagyu beef and Churraso as the items seemed interesting.
