Eggsperience is located in the heart of downtown convenient to all nodes of transportation and open 24 hours! Who doesn’t love eating breakfast at all hours of the day?! They even have specialized menus for all day breakfast and late diners.
Eggsperience is a contemporary dinner but casual laid back environment. When I walked up to the entrance I knew it was popular based on the number of people waiting. You walk in and the hostess station is swarming. No both or tables are available so I choose to sit at the counter.
As soon as I sit down I’m greeted by a server who is super cheerful. Given the menu I’m instantly overwhelmed by the number of options on the menu. You can have basic eggs, scramblers, skillet items, french toast, waffles, crepes, pancakes, omelets, frittatas and other goodies. You can chose to use egg whites if you chose or get fresh fruit instead of hash browns.
Since I’m a carnivore I decided to on the cooks calling omelette, ham, bacon and sausage and two cheeses and added some spinach! Score! While waiting for my order I noticed that there was a steady flow of people coming in and out.
The restaurant is clean, open and airy. It has a nice large dining space separated into to spaces, with plenty of TV’s located throughout. Even sitting at the counter you don’t feel like you space is crowded. This is a high turnover joint on the weekend with an eclectic clientele.
My omelette arrives and looks nice but there is no cheese on top.
I had to request that. WTF?? They sent it back added the cheese and it came back a glorious thing. The omelette tasted great and It was huge thick, fluffy and cheesy without being undercooked of “heavy”. The hash browns were nothing to write home about. Come with an appetite as the portions are very large.
My service was a fast and nice but my counter server seemed a bit over whelmed and when I asked to have cheese added she almost seemed insulted. the other counter workers were more then happy to help.
The price for the size of the omelette, fresh ingredients and size of the beverages is well below market for a comparable restaurant on Michigan Avenue or in the Rush Street area.
I would definitely return as this place is a good for a meal and a great alternative to star chef and more popular breakfast or brunch locations.
