We walk in and it’s a huge departure from the original Pink Tea Cup. The new space is trying to go for an eclectic shabby chic look, tossing it’s classic “diner” decor and feel aside. Do so, the business lost its soul.
A few of the fun snarky employees that were apart of the old Pink Tea Cup experience are at the new restaurant, but there is no jukebox. It no longer feels as though it’s a unique New York restaurant, but an average restaurant on a crowded street of restaurants.
The friendly family atmosphere is gone. While waiting to be seated I snapped a few pictures (very low key) and one of the new employees snapped at me.
It took 10 minutes to seat us in restaurant with only a third of the tables occupied. Once seated and ordered some Iced Tea of the drink menu and order grits in sausage, Scrambled Eggs and bacon and French fries and hot wings.
First, it too the kitchen 30 minutes to make eggs...yes eggs. Second, they came out hard and unattractive. The grits were super runny and the hot wings were some frozen thing out of a box with sauce thrown on. I know this is not gourmet dining, but damn this was absolutely the worst!
The best thing about this meal was the drinks and I’m not a heavy drinker.
The straw that broke this camels back is they do not accept credit cards? WTF??
Based on this bad experience, I cannot patronize the Pink Tea Cup. Seems like he guy who bought the place is more concerned with self promotion than maintaining the historical integrity of the Pink Tea cup.
I say avoid the Pink Tea Cup!
