I always thought eating inside Grand Central as unappealing as it’s a train station along with being “touristy”. However, I wanted to have lunch with my good friend Jones and it was a convenient place.
I made a reservation and went in with an open mind. I’ve been in Grand Central numerous times, but upon arrival at Metrazur, I realized how great the view is. It’s the perfect place to people watch and it’s not as touristy or noisy as I presumed it would be!
The space is separated into two dining rooms, we were seated into the north dining room and promptly greeted by our server. He promptly reviewed the menu and gave suggestions.
We order the Prix Fixe lunch. I ordered the sweet corn soup and black angus paillard entree. Jones ordered the Scottish salmon entree and for dessert, sorbet. My soup was smooth and wasn’t like a bisque that I was expecting. My steak was a little to done for me. I like my meat rare/medium-rare. Jones Salmon was cooked perfectly and paired with some wonderfully prepared vegetables.
They wait staff was on point. Attentive without be over bearing. Just what one would expect from they type of restaurant.
$25 per person for lunch that included a glass of wine, dessert and coffee was great!
Overall this lunch was average and doesn’t live up to the hype. Having said that, it was a decent meal in a great space. I’ll need to check the place out for a dinner to compare services.
